Nebraska lawmakers have advanced a bill that will make it easier for people with out-of-state identification cards to purchase alcohol.
Currently, only a Nebraska State ID and not an out-of-state State ID may be used to establish proof of age for the purpose of purchasing or consuming alcoholic liquor. This bill will allow for State ID's from all states to be used to establish proof of age for the purpose of purchasing or consuming alcoholic liquor.
Senators argued that most of the people trying to purchase alcohol are responsible adults, and should not be prohibited from making a sale because of where their ID was issued.
The bill passed first round approval, and will be discussed later on during this legislative session.
