The United States Postal Service increased the cost of a stamp for first class mail by one cent this week.
A stamp will now cost customers 46 cents, and 33 cents to mail a postcard.
Gering postmaster Lori Harris says customers are always a little upset about a price increase.
But she says they know it is needed to keep up with the cost of inflation.
"We always have customers that are kind of, a little upset about a price increase, as they are when they would go anywhere when they see prices go up," says Harris.
The one-cent rate increase is not expected to put much of a dent into the Postal Service's ongoing financial woes. The USPS continues to lose 25 million dollars every day.
