Alliance organizations join forces to improve the city

Posted: Updated:

Alliance is celebrating its 125th birthday.  But that's not all the city is celebrating -it's celebrating a new year, with business in mind.

Box Butte County has a lot of space and business opportunities, explains Chelsea Herian, the Executive Director of Box Butte Development. "We have the room to grow. We are a central hub for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe."

Some of the county's leaders have come together to form their own central hub to help the community. Box Butte Development , the Alliance Chamber of Commerce, and the Alliance Visitors Bureau are now next-room neighbors.

"They approached us and said, "Hey would you consider moving in together?" recounts Herain, "And we liked the idea.""

Kevin Howard of the Visitor's Bureau says all of the offices have different purposes, but all share one common goal. "Make it more prosperous, and the best hometown in America."

The chamber takes care of the city's existing businesses, the visitor's bureau works to bring people into our community,  and if the visitors like Alliance, Box Butte Development is there to help bring their business into town.

Having all three teams working together just makes things click.

"It's like an incubator here on ideas," explains Chamber Director Dixie Nelson. "And we can exchange information to foster more ideas, you know the communication is much better."

And all three agencies agree, the move was beneficial for the community as well.

"It's just more instantaneous, if someone walks in the front door, we don't have to send them blocks down the street."
