It was a busy weekend for the Nebraska State Patrol, with two routine
traffic stops turning into sizeable drug busts.
The first arrest happened when a trooper stopped a driver who failed to use
a turn signal.
Passenger Nicole Clark was arrested after the officer discovered a large
amount of marijuana and hashish in her possession.
45 minutes later a trooper saw John Bookman of Gering pull a u –turn on
highway 71.
During the traffic stop the trooper discovered methamphetamine and
marijuana.
Lieutenant Jamie Balthazor commends the officers for pulling a good amount
of illicit drugs off the streets. "We were pretty busy on the drug
end this weekend, trying to keep the drugs from getting into the county and
into the area before it can be redistributed," says the Lieutenant.
Balthazor says that the hashish that was seized was individually packaged,
an indication that it was going to be resold in the area.
