Nationally and here in the Panhandle, gas prices have steadily grown recently, but some of the steepest increases have been in Wyoming.
Over the past two weeks, gas prices have spiked nearly twenty cents.
Most drivers say it's hard to keep track of the unstable prices. Butch Punk of Torrington has a different mindset.
He says Americans are used to cheap energy and higher prices and a possible bump in the gas tax could mean better things for the growth of Wyoming and the country.
"I don't think we pay enough, they're going to be thinking about a tax on our gasoline here, maybe ten cents and I think that's good, if we're driving on the highways we ought to pay for the highways, we ought to pay if we're driving," says Punk.
Wyoming's and Nebraska's gas prices are lower than the national average at $3.53 a gallon.
