The driver charged in a January fatal accident that claimed the lives of two young women from Scottsbluff has posted $50,000 bond.
22-year-old Ethan Kaufman will have his preliminary hearing in Goshen County on Friday at 10:30 a.m., with Eric Palen as his public defender.
Kaufman is not allowed to contact any of the witnesses or victims involved with the January 9th crash that occurred just west of the Wyoming border on Highway 92.
Prosecutors say Kaufman crashed the truck he was driving, killing passengers Alexis Wheeler and Hallie Anderson, and seriously injuring Tyler Hill and Stetson Allen.
Kaufman is charged with two counts of aggravated homicide by vehicle, and two counts of driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury.
All four are felonies, and if convicted, Kaufman could face up to 60 years in prison.
Alcohol, high speeds, and texting while driving are all said to be possible reasons for the crash.
