Posted: Updated:

A Sidney man is facing up to 45-years in prison, after police officers found a substantial amount of illicit drugs in his apartment.

51-year-old Valente A. Acosta Simental is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug related money.

On Tuesday, officers with the WING Drug Task Force knocked on the door of Simental's apartment on suspected drug activity. Officers said they could smell marijuana emitting from the apartment.

Simental showed the officers around, and they noticed pipes with marijuana residue, and containers and bags with a green leafy substance.

Officers searched the apartment and found small bags and pipes with methamphetamine. Also located was a digital scale, two boxes of clear cellophane bags, and large amounts of money with names on them.

Simental admitted that he had been selling marijuana out of his residence for the past 2.5 to 3 months to help pay the bills.
