Today is Ash Wednesday which marks the official beginning of Lent for many Christians in KOTA Territory.
Dozens of church members gathered at Christ the King Catholic Church to observe Ash Wednesday.
Some participants receive marks made in black ash on their
forehead in the sign of the cross.
For Christians, today marks the beginning of Lent, which is
a period 40 days where people traditionally give up a certain luxury.
"When everyone stops for a moment and sees, you know, I'm not the person I should be and I'm not the person I could be with the grace
of god. I need God in my life. I need to do something on my part to respond
to him."
Lent
ends on Easter Sunday.
