U.S. Senator Mike Johanns is calling for changes in the Environmental Protection Agency's regulatory process.
This week the republican introduced four pieces of legislation to make the agency more transparent and accountable.
"Nebraskans frustration is driven by both what EPA is trying to do - meaning the content of the rules and standards - as well as how the agency is making its decisions. So today, madam president, I will be introducing several proposals to address these two areas."
Johanns says his legislation is a push for commonsense EPA regulatory reform.
His bills will force the agency to report to congress bi-annually, as well as reduce its budget until it meets deadlines for regulatory agenda - setting.
Johanns says these solutions should promote transparency, and more importantly- promote responsible government.
