Exercise could cut your number of sick days

Working out when you're sick could help cut your sick time in half.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control estimate more than 425 million cases of the cold and flu occur annually in America.

If you have the flu or a really bad virus, Omar Ramirez the Wellness Coordinator at Regional West Medical Center, says bed rest is your best friend.

But Ramirez says if you just have a sore throat or are a little sick, taking it easy is a good rule.

When your sick Ramirez says fluids are important regardless of how sick you are.

But he says being physically active even if it's just moderate, could help shorten your sick time.

"Is you actually boost your immune system by being physically active, so the more physically active, the more your body is working to receive and rebuild its muscles and get yourself back to 100%."

The C.D.C estimates the average person has three respetory infections a year.
