A former Western Sugar Factory employee is behind bars after attacking a co-worker with a hammer.
32-year-old Jason Bates was arrested on Friday night after a fight took place at Western Sugar.
A police affidavit says that Bates assaulted a co-worker with a hammer after finding out that he had been convicted of statutory rape.
Bates was later arrested and charged with 1st Degree Assault. The charge is a Class III felony, which carries a jail sentence anywhere from 1 to 25 years in prison, as well as the possibility of a fine up to $25,000.
