To some driving by, this may look like a junk yard.

But if you take a closer look, you'll see it's much more.

"It's listed by life magazine as one of the 21 places you should see on your bucket list before you die," says Thomas.

Jim Reinders, the artist of the unique attraction, was an engineer and had a knack for the creative.

"You know, it went from a family picnic to a world class tourist attraction," says Thomas.

Reinders lived in England for some time and was intrigued by the design and purpose of Stonehenge.

After his father passed away in 1982, the family came up with the idea of a Stonehenge replica.

It took them five years to complete.

"Carhenge has 38 cars, at a 96 foot diameter to match the proportions of Stonehenge.  This attraction has brought more than 80,000 people to the Alliance area," says Thomas.

"It has brought notoriety to Alliance in advertising and stuff like that that we couldn't even dream of and we definitely couldn't pay for it," she adds.

Thomas says for the people of Alliance, it's one of those odd ball things..."You either love it or you hate it."

But one thing is for sure, Alliance's different attractions are a refreshing sight for travelers.

"The travelers that come through both at the museums and carhenge say there's very few towns they can go to where something doesn't cost," says Thomas.

Alliance's four other main attractions are free of charge as well.
