KOTA Territory community college expands alternative energy program

Posted: Updated:

With wind energy taking some hits in the Legislature, a KOTA Territory community college tries to keep ahead of the curve.

Jason Stratman, the Dean of Workforce Development says although there's been setbacks in wind energy in Nebraska, the school plans to broaden its spectrum to help students.

The school's renewable energy program will expand to energy management, solar and waste energy.

Stratman says he thinks expanding the program will help the school and students more long term.

"Well the broadening for the program will definitely help with marketability, so when alternative energy is back on the upswing, people who are in alternative energy will be ahead of the curve," Stratman said.

Stratman says these types of alternative energies could really help in the agriculture industry.
