State lawmakers advance a bill that would loosen restrictions for Nebraska hunters.
Under the bill, the Game and Parks Commission will issue 85 percent of its deer hunting permits to Nebraskans before issuing out-of-state permits.
The bill also revises issuance of elk permits, and clarifies hunting rights for landowners in partnerships.
Bill introducer Annette Dubas says the measure will be beneficial for many hunters across the state.
"It's just again- allowing the commission the latitude to change with the times," says Dubas. "Again, these are issues that have been brought to them multiple times by hunters across the state."
Fees for the hunting permits remain at $29 for in - state hunters, and $214 for out - of - state hunters.
