The Week Of Service in Nebraska will take place from April 22-28.
A recent Volunteering in America Report ranked Nebraska among the top 10 states that have strong volunteerism records. About 37 percent of Nebraskans reported they had volunteered in 2011, adding up to more than 49 million hours of volunteer service.
Nebraska first lady Sally Ganem is a ServeNebraska volunteer commissioner. Ganem and Gov. Dave Heineman support the week and are encouraging Nebraskans to participate.
