Scottsbluff hires new Assistant City Manager

The city of Scottsbluff has hired a new assistant city manager after a lengthy search.

Nathan Johnson of Dublin, Ohio will assume the new duties on March 4th.

City Manager Rick Kuckkahn says there were six qualified finalists for this position, but Johnson's degree in public administration made him a solid choice.

"His career track is clearly in city management/ city government," explains Kuckkahn. "So that's the thing that really tipped the scales. There were several candidates that were highly qualified and probably could have done the job as well."

Johnson's first major projects will include upgrading the information technology software and working on capital improvement projects.

The assistant city manager will be groomed to take over as city manager when Kuckkahn retires
