The driver charged in a January fatal accident that claimed the lives of two young women from Scottsbluff will have a week-long trial this summer.
22 - year - old Ethan Kaufman will have a jury trial from August 5th through August 9th in Goshen County District Court, with the Judge Keith Kautz presiding.
Kaufman has pleaded not guilty to two counts of aggravated homicide and two counts of driving under the influence causing serious bodily injury.
Prosecutors say Kaufman crashed the truck he was driving, killing passengers Alexis Wheeler and Hallie Anderson.
Alcohol, high speeds, and texting while driving are all said to be possible reasons for the crash.
If convicted, Kaufman could face up to 60 years in prison.
