Win or lose, One KOTA Territory athlete just wants to have fun playing basketball.
Athletes from across the panhandle gathered yesterday evening for a Unified Special Olympics basketball match.
Last night, the program's 16 - 21 year old groups faced off at Scottsbluff High School.
The program provides special needs athletes with the opportunity to participate in competitive sports, while teaching them valuable lessons.
"I want to be the good winner. Also I can be the good loser. And that's as easy as it is," says Matthew Bazemore, one of the league's athletes.
He says he loves playing basketball because it's his favorite sport and he gets to play with his friends.
Bazemore was unable to play in last nights game due to a foot injury, but he was still excited to cheer on his team.
"All of my friends are in there playing," says Bazemore. "They're my favorite team. We are the Coyotes!"
The 16 - 21 year old teams will play their next game later this month.
