Changes to Scottsbluff/ Gering downtown underway

Posted: Updated:

Residents in one panhandle community can expect to see a few aesthetic changes taking place this spring.

Downtown Scottsbluff is undergoing a facelift. The city has teamed up with Twin Cities Development to execute a downtown revitalization project.

Executive Director Rawnda Pierce says the project is nearing its end but that residents can still expect to see a number of new fixtures in the upcoming months.

This spring the city will start redoing their streets as part of Scottsbluff's one and six year street plans.

In addition to the numerous new store signs and awnings popping up around the downtown area, residents can expect to see new parking signs too.

A new downtown bathroom facility and awnings for the 18th Street Farmer's Market are also in the works.

"The public feedback has been pretty good," says Pierce. "The business owners are excited. And the public is excited just to see, you know, it's starting to look a lot different."

Pierce says community members can also look forward to some aesthetic changes to Gering's downtown in the upcoming year.
