A Beatrice man faces three felony charges, after troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol pull 4.8 pounds of pot off a panhandle highway.
29-year-old Phillip Mays was pulled over for speeding on I-76 in Deuel County. Trooper E.J. Petersen detected the odor of marijuana emitting from within the vehicle.
A search of the trunk revealed a large nylon bag containing a black plastic trash bag that held several plastic bags of marijuana.
A total of 4.8 pounds of marijuana was seized, and Mays was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 21st at 11 a.m. in Deuel County Court.
