The Parker Hannifin factory in Alliance has been around for 40 years and Bob Miller has been working there since the beginning.
"I came here out of the army in 1974, I had a brother living here and the plant had just started so I came here," Miller said.
The company is a hydraulic hose manufacturer.
"Most of them are very surprised maybe don't realize how much it takes to make a piece of hose," Miller said.
But something that makes the factory special, is the close knit community.
Once Parker Hannifin realized the great work ethic they had in their own back yard, they doubled their size in 1998. They doubled not only the factory size but the employees as well at 300 employees working here today.
"There's at least that many more that I've met. It's unbelievable," Miller said.
Miller says he's worked at the factory for so long, it's like home to him.
"It's a family environment. After that many years, it's like a family not just like a job," Miller said.
And this sense of community reaches the city of Alliance as well.
"We have one lady who just started here, told me a while back - "I can't believe how many people know know. Everywhere you go someone talks to you," and that's just the way the community is," Miller said.
Making it the perfect place to begin and maintain a business like the Parker Hannifin factory.
