New bills would allow vets to show pride on their vehicles

Posted: Updated:

Nebraska vets may have a new way to show their pride, on their cars.

Two Nebraska Lawmakers introduced bills that would make it easier for veterans to buy personalized license plates.

Personalizing the plates would include designating which branch of service the driver is from.

Another bill would include a veteran's designation on their drivers licenses.

The new bills come after the 2009 approval of specialty plates for non-profit groups with more than 500.

Senator Charlie Janssen proposed eliminating a threshold on specialty plates for veterans and those currently serving.

The Transportation and Telecommunications committee will discuss the bills tomorrow.
