You may notice some rubble as you drive South Beltline Highway.
The pipes in that stretch of highway are deteriorating.
Dave Schaff, the project Engineer, says they're up sizing the pipes to increase their capacity, this allows more room for city growth.
The sanitary sewer project is in the city's budget this year and Schaff says it was much needed.
"If you remember a couple of years ago it actually did collapse, and that's what instigated this project. This pipe feeds and services the entire western part of Scottsbluff," Schaff said.
Schaff says if they didn't replace the pipe, it would limit the flow to the wastewater plant creating backups.
