A new smart phone application could help save your life.
The American Red Cross rolls out a tornado app for instant alerts on your smart phone.
The free app delivers tornado warnings to your cell phone.
The app includes a high pitch siren and tornado warning alert, that goes off if the National Weather Service issues a warning in the area.
And after the warning has expired or is canceled, the app shouts - all clear.
Jerry Bretthauer, Region 22's Director of Emergency Management says he thinks it's a great idea.
"Well, with the out coming of social media, your twitters, your tweets, Facebook and all that, a lot of emergency management organizations are going to providing those kinds of services," Bretthauer said.
Bretthauer says this app will be especially useful for people who can't hear or see.
