One KOTA Territory airport director says he does not have a problem with looser restrictions on what air passengers can bring on board.
This week, Transportation Security Administration head John Pistole announced that passengers can bring small knives and souvenir bats onto planes starting next month.
Darwin Skelton of western Nebraska Regional Airport says there will still be restrictions on the knives;they can't be molded, and they cannot lock.
But most important, it will still be up to the T.S.A. screeners to make a final decision on whether or not the knife can be brought on board.
"We'll use scottsbluff for example," explains Skelton. "You may get through Scottsbluff and fly to Denver and go on somewhere else. And when you come back, maybe that screener says 'this doesn't quite fit the criteria' and you end up losing it."
Many airline crew members say they oppose the decision, and say that even pocket knives can still be dangerous.
