Nebraska ranks 6th in the Gallup Polls for well being

Posted: Updated:

Nebraska ranks sixth in the country for well being and locals seem to agree, it's a great place to live.

"If you like the outdoor life and if you like nature, Nebraska's a great place to live and you still have access to the big city environment," Justin Shaddick, Scottbluff High School's Vice Principal said.

The Gallup's well being index measures physical and emotional health, work environment, lifestyle behaviors, access to basic needs and people's perceived satisfaction with their lives.

"I love it here, but another this is I had extended family here and wanted to be closer. It's just a better quality of life to be around family and for support," Abby Yellman, Lied Scottsbluff Public Library's Director said.

The poll asks participants questions about eating habits, daily stress levels and work environments.

"The people, you know the people here are friendly. You have a midwest and a Nebraska work ethic," Sheriff Mark Overman said.

States in the Midwest and Northeast fared better than other areas.

"All around here, there are so many things to see and do with history, paleontology, natural and cultural," Lesley Gault, Scotts Bluff National Monument Park Ranger said.

And locals seem to agree, they're satisfied with their home state.

"It just seems like a pretty mellow place to live, so I've enjoyed it," James Todd said.
