KOTA Territory Zoo to offer Kids Day Off program

Posted: Updated:

A zoo in KOTA Territory is offering School Day Off programs for kids this March.

The Riverside Discovery Center is opening up their gates this coming Friday March 15th and next Friday March 22nd for students who have the day off from school.

The programs are like mini camps and will be filled with games, crafts, hands–on activities and zoo animal education.

Friday March 15th, the 1st - 3rd graders are invited to learn about wild cats.

The following Friday, students in grades 4 - 6 will learn about primates.

The cost is $15 for members and $20 for non–members.  Children must be pre–registered for the programs.

"Parents, you know, you're still going to have to go to work but the students need something to do," says Kim Miedema, the zoo's education curator.   "So it's a great time for the kids to come to the zoo and just learn about the animals in a unique way.  Kind of like a summer camp."

For more information on how to register your children for these upcoming programs, you can contact the Riverside Discovery Center at (308) 630-6236 or e-mail Kim Miedema at Kim.Miedema@riversidediscoverycenter.org.

Miedema says that space is limited, so interested parties should call and reserve a space as soon as possible.
