Future health care providers for rural Nebraska have received acceptance into a specialized program at Chadron State College.
Twenty-three Nebraska high school students have been chosen to participate in the "Rural Health Opportunities Program" starting this fall.
Under the program, students will receive pre-professional training before transferring to a University of Nebraska Medical Center branch once they graduate from CSC.
Program Coordinator Jill Mack says the program is intended to train students from rural areas so they can return home and provide quality health care.
Ten of the accepted students were chosen from high schools right here in the Panhandle.
