A Bellevue man who posed as a minor and tried to arrange a sexual encounter with a minor at a Gering motel room was sentenced yesterday in Scotts Bluff District Court.
27- year- old Brandon Weatherhead was sentenced to 3 years of traditional probation and 180 days in jail (147 days credited).
In October 2012, Weatherhead was chatting online with a 'minor' and tried to get them to meet him in Gering for a sexual encounter. That 'minor' was actually an undercover investigator with the Nebraska State Patrol.
Initially, he was charged with using an electronic device to solicit or entice a child under the age of 16. Amended charges had him facing attempt of a Class II felony.
