State lawmakers spend another day filibustering a bill that would expand horse racing in Nebraska.
Senator Scott Lautenbaugh is pushing for a bill that would allow race tracks to install and operate instant racing terminals.
Proponents say the terminals will provide revenue to the state *and* its racetracks.
But opponents, such as senator Ernie Chambers argue that this bill is not solely about helping the racing industry. "It's really helping the gambling industry, isn't it?"
"Yes, if you're looking at it that way," replied Sen. Ken Schilz. "Absolutely, that's what this is about."
"Thank you Senator Schilz. Members of the legislature, I want to keep us focused on what it is we're doing here, we are expanding gambling."
Debate on this bill ended today with a motion to indefinitely postpone this piece of legislation... Although no vote has yet been taken on that motion.
