In light of recent drinking and driving incidents in the panhandle, community leaders are teaming up to make some changes.
Western Nebraska Community College's Alcohol Awareness Presentation was sponsored by multiple student organizations, but they all had one common goal - education.
Guest speakers from the Sheriff's Office, State Patrol, and the Monument Prevention Coalition discussed the dangers of drinking.
The community leaders all emphasized, 21 is the legal drinking age, no matter what.
One of the event coordinators, Jill Eich says it's important to teach these kids early on the potential consequences of drinking.
"We're in a community right now that's grieving the loss of two of its members and we felt it was time to do something to educate the young people in our society of the dangers of drinking and driving," Eich said.
Eich says the informal setting of the presentation lets students more openly discuss any questions they might have.
