Students turn fundraising into a competition

Posted: Updated:

Students at a KOTA Territory high school turn fundraising into a competition.

The Gering High School Key Club is teaming up with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Classrooms are competing against each other to see who can raise the most money for the foundation.

Paper stars are used to gauge the competition, and Key Club advisor, Matt Solomon, says the winners will receive a pizza party.

"For every five dollars they raise, we put one of these on the door," says Salomon.  "And then the teachers can see, you know, door to door who's ahead of each other."

Last month, the Gering High School Key Club helped raise $600 to benefit Pennies For Patients.
