A new rain garden will be sprouting up in KOTA Territory.
More than 4,500 square feet of concrete will be removed to make room for Scottsbluff's newest rain garden.
Rain gardens feature native plants that require little water and upkeep.
A similar project has already taken roots on the corner of 19th Street and Avenue B.
Scottsbluff Storm Water Project Specialist Annie Folck says rain gardens bring more than aesthetic benefits.
"There's also an environmental benefit because there will be less runoff from having less concrete. The runoff from the parking lot will now be directed into landscape areas. So now that runoff will be utilized by plants."
The project is funded by a $5,000 grant from the Oregon Trail Community Foundation.
