A college in the panhandle is looking into alternative funding options for students affected by the U.S. Military's suspension of it's tuition assistance program.
This week, the U.S. Military announced they are halting future tuition assistance program enrollment for active duty personnel.
Eight students at Western Nebraska Community College… will no longer be able to receive their military tuition assistance.
Director of Military and Veterans Affairs, Chris Wolf, says the affected students have been expressing concern.
Wolf says right now, the college is looking into other possible sources of funding for students affected by the cuts.
"It's scary to think about what could happen," says Wolf. "But WNCC and our Military Affairs Office is dedicated to making sure we keep these students going and we'll do what we can to keep them in school and make them successful."
The change is set to take effect for the summer semester.
