With the President's focus on early childhood development, panhandle school districts are pushing for kindergarten registration.
Gering Public School's Superintendent Don Hague sent a community letter encouraging early childhood development.
Hague says one of President Obama's primary focuses is pre-school education and he agrees it needs to be an issue on the forefront.
In Hague's letter he asks the community to investigate early childhood development for themselves and get their kids registered as soon as possible.
"You're going to see more and more people realizing that those early years before they actually enter formal schooling. Age five and kindergarten, are so critical and if they don't have some of those basic skills developed early, it takes them so much longer to catch up," Hague said.
Hague says in the panhandle early childhood development efforts have been tremendous this year.
