Providing education to future generations in hopes for a better world.
That's what the National Forest service is trying to do by providing a half - day workshop for kids to learn the importance of tree care.
The class served as a prep course for the certified arborists exam.
Participants were taught tree biology, soil and water care, tree worker safety and proper pruning methods.
Amy Seiler of the North Platte Natural Resource District says arborists are vital to the community.
"We value trees in Nebraska and we want to give the best care to our tree resource that we possibly can, so we think it's important to train people on the proper way to care for trees."
Seiler adds that as the home of national Arbor Day, Nebraska has a responsibility to value our trees.
