Changes coming to oneKOTA Territory elementary school have parents outraged.
The Gering School Board announced plans last night to convert Cedar Canyon Elementary to a kindergarten through fourth grade school.
Meaning this fall, fifth and sixth graders who would have attended Cedar Canyon will have to go to nearby Lincoln Elementary.
The school board stated budget issues and concerns for space as reasons for the changes.
Many parents expressed their anger at last night's meeting saying the decision was made without any conversation on the topic.
"Deplorable" is one word used by a Cedar Canyon parent to describe the communication between the school board and parents regarding the upcoming changes.
