NE Lawmakers advance bill to repeal death penalty

A proposal to repeal capital punishment in Nebraska has been advanced.

Nebraska Lawmakers will once again get the chance to debate the death penalty.

A proposal to repeal capital punishment advanced yesterday to the floor of the Legislature.

The Legislature's Judiciary Committee voted 7-0 to advance the bill for full debate.

The bill was introduced by Senator Ernie Chambers, a longtime opponent of capital punishment.
