Gering woman caught smuggling meth into jail

Posted: Updated:

A Gering woman is facing a variety of drug-related charges after a routine traffic stop on Saturday evening.

25-year-old Dezera Husted was the passenger in a car that was speeding on Highway 92.

Trooper Hunter with the Nebraska State Patrol recognized Husted from previous intelligence as a possible suspect associated with controlled substances.

K-9 Officer Jed Combs from the Scottsbluff Police Department had his dog do a search of the vehicle.

Combs found a glass methamphetamine pipe with white residue in it, along with a plastic bag with "numerous" pills identified as Diezepam- a class 4 drug.

Trooper Hunter recovered a marijuana pipe with residue in it as well.

Husted was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, and transported to the Scotts Bluff County Correction Department. During a body search, correction officers found a baggy containing 5 grams of a white powder that tested positive for Methamphetamine.

Husted was then charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and smuggling contraband into jail.
