A Scottsbluff man who stabbed a business owner in the neck will be spending the next 5 to 8 years in prison.

39-year-old Herman Torres was sentenced today in Scotts Bluff County District Court on one count of Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony.

On January 13th, Torres stabbed Jason Lewison, the owner of Precision Cycle during an altercation stemming from an  ongoing child custody dispute. Torres is the biological father of the child, and Lewison married the child's mother.

The defense asked for a sentence of probation, but due to the serious nature of the crime, Judge Leo Dobrovolny gave a prison sentence.
