Alliance Youth Archery Club sees big jump in members

A youth program in Alliance sees their membership grow.

The Youth Archery Club in Alliance started out as one man's passion.

Dan Anderson, the President of the club says he brought the idea of having archery in schools to the district.

After getting that program started, local schools started announcing the archery club's meeting times and days during their morning announcements.

Anderson says after spreading the word, the club's youth attendance went from two or three to more than 30 kids.

"We try to give them something to do and keep them interested in this. And the thing is, this club's been going on for a long time but we're getting old and eventually these kids are going to have to take over to get it to stay," Secretary Treasurer, Mike Cox said.

In a very tech savvy generation Anderson says archery is a unique and great way to have fun, it teaches hand eye coordination as well as gives the kids a little exercise fetching their arrows.
