Marge Rotherham and her husband Vince became very involved with the Post Playhouse when they moved to the area in 1968.  Before retirement, Vince worked for many years as the Superintendent at Fort Robinson.

"We retired to a ranch and now Vince is gone and the post playhouse saved my life," says Marge Rotherham.  "Tom said come back to the people who love you."

When vice passed away four years ago, Marge immersed herself back into musical theatre.

"The Post Playhouse has been very important at Fort Robinson," says Rotherham.  "There's a lot of people that come to Fort Robinson just to come to the shows."

Converted from a military building in 1967, the Post Playhouse has become North Western Nebraska's premier venue for live theatre.

When the Post Playhouse was remodeled in 1991, a number of changes occurred. One of them was the addition of the porch on the front side of the building.  Air conditioning was also added then, and the seats were angled for better viewing.

As the theatre's appearance improved, so did its quality of talent.

"They come from all over the United States. I do a casting call." says Tom Ossowski, Art Director at Fort Robinson for the past seven years.  "[Rob] and I worked together in New York, we did a national search, and then we did auditions to hire out wonderful talent."

Ossowski and Assistant Artistic Director, Rob Gretta, say each year they are blown away by the performers.

"Certainly they all have their professional actors cards and they are so wonderful and they're so talented," says Rotherman.  "[And so are] the musicians who play for the stage band. It's unbelievable."

Shortly after Rotherham's husband died, Ossowski urged her to return to the Post Playhouse.

"I love it. These kids are wonderful," says Rotherham.   "My son says, it's like I've adopted them as grandchildren of the heart every year. They're fun and just nice to an old lady."

The Post Playhouse is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 9 a.m. through 12 p.m. on Sunday.
