WNCC wellness grant will help develop healthier lifestyles

Posted: Updated:

A KOTA Territory community college receives a grant for $10,000 to coach the community about living healthy lifestyles.

The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska presents a wellness grant to Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC) during their Livewell Nebraska Tour.

WNCC will use the grant to fund it's Wellness Culture Coaching Training Program, dedicated to helping individuals develop and adopt healthier lifestyles and practices.

The project starts by training 15 individuals who become certified Wellness Culture Coaches. Once certified, coaches train the community, schools, churches, and businesses to spread awareness, knowledge and importance of creating a ‘wellness culture'.

"The Wellness Grant Program is important to Blue Cross because it reflects our state-wide mission and reaches Nebraskans in communities all across the state," says CEO of Regional West Medical Center, and Blue Cross Blue Shield Board Member.

The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska is awarding nearly $90,000 in wellness grants to eight different organizations throughout Nebraska.
