Out of town teens arrested overnight

They came into town to play some baseball, but are leaving with a criminal record.

The Scottsbluff Police Department has made several arrests in an investigation of vandalism's occurring throughout the night.

Officers were requested in the 3500 block of Avenue D in reference to a report from a female residing in the area.  The female watched as a male struck her mailbox several times with a baseball bat.  Immediately following, the female watched as the suspect and another male fled the area on foot.  The males were last seen in the area of the Hampton Inn.  Officers investigating learned that some of the state baseball tournament teams were staying at the motel.

The investigation identified the two males present when the mailbox was damaged and evidence of the crime was recovered.  Also during the investigation officers contacted several team members whom had consumed alcoholic beverages which resulted in several arrests and citations.

The investigation has continued into the morning hours and additional reports of damaged mailboxes are being investigated.  Two of the damaged mailboxes in these reports are believed to have occurred Sunday afternoon two-days prior to this investigation.

Police have arrested 18 year olds Adam Jorgenson, Kyle Debaets of Waverly, NE, and Jesse Maguire of Davey, NE on Minor in Possession charges. Maguire also is charged with destruction of property.

Additionally 16 year old Dillon Benson of Eagle, NE; 17 year old Calvin Yelkin of Eagle, NE; and 18 year old Luke Sumovich of Waverly, NE have been cited for Minor in Possession.
