Nebraska chapter of UMF raise money for local teens and prom

Posted: Updated:

Members of the U.M.F and the PROMises program held the 'Prom Fund Run' on Saturday to help cut the cost for teens wanting to go to prom.

The men of the bike organization dressed up in prom dresses, women wore shirts and ties.

The group started the day at the Union Bar, then rode to the Frontier Bar in Crawford followed by the Wreckers Roadhouse in Chadron.

They then visited the Stop Players in Alliance  and finally returned to Gering's Rompus Room.
One U.M.F member spoke about what it was like putting on a dress Saturday morning.
"I was a little grouchy," says Matt Kihltahu. "But it's all in fun. We're gonna have a good turnout. Everybody's in good spirits, raise some money for these kids."

Steve Peck, the President of the Nebraska chapter of U.M.F. talked about the dress code.

"The dress... this was to throw a little spice into it, the girls that are in the U.M.F they're dressed in tuxedos. All the U.M.F guys except for maybe one or two are in dresses."
Members of the bike organization say prom can be expensive and they were glad to help out the community.
