"Just take me to jail" says Scottsbluff man who killed family dog

Posted: Updated:

A Scottsbluff man has been arrested and charged after throwing a dog against a wall and breaking its neck.

29-year-old Richard Mackin was arrested Wednesday evening after police responded to a domestic disturbance.

Mackin says that the incident occurred when a child hit him with a dog chain. Mackin then threw the dog against the wall, and it broke its neck on impact. He then put the dog into a bag as police arrived on scene.

The arrest affidavit says the incident happened in front of children.

Mackin was arrested on charges of Cruelty to Animals and 3rd Degree Domestic Assault.
