Dubas stops in Scottsbluff as part of statewide campaign tour

A gubernatorial candidate makes a stop in the panhandle to meet with constituents as part of her statewide campaign tour.

Annette Dubas says she's excited to take her experience as state senator into the next branch of government.

Dubas is currently finishing–up her seventh year in the state Senate and says running for governor feels like a natural progression.

The farmer and rancher from Fullerton, NE says being elected governor will allow her to continue work on the issues she cares about, such as the state's tax modernization.

"You know, my dad instilled in me at a very early age, the importance of public service," says Dubas.  "And he always said, if you see something that needs to be fixed, or you think you have something to offer to make a situation better, you should never hesitate to do that.  And I feel like I have things to offer to the State of Nebraska and it's citizens and I'd like to have that opportunity."

Dubas says she looks forward to showing the State of Nebraska and it's citizens what she has to offer.

Dubas will face former University of Nebraska Regent Chuck Hassebrook next spring in the Democratic primary.

Both of the Democratic candidates are emphasizing their rural backgrounds as they campaign across the state.
