Bridgeport State of Schools report shows significant improvement

Posted: Updated:

The percentage of Bridgeport Elementary School Students scoring at or above grade level in reading, math, science and writing has increased this past year.

The 2012/2013 State of the Schools Report, released by the Nebraska Department of Education, is a summary of how each school district in Nebraska is performing in specific subjects.

According to Nebraska State Accountability (NESA) test results, math and science scores have continued the trend of steady and significant annual increase.

The district's reading and writing performance have also exceeded the state average.

"Our testing scores have shown significant improvement and that's something that every school is always trying to get better at," says Bridgeport Elementary School Principal Troy Malone.  "And the teachers have been very responsive to making the changes and going in that direction."

The accountability system is based off 'NESA results from tests administered last spring in the areas of math, reading, writing and science.
