PMHC recognizes 'Mental Illness Awareness Week'

Posted: Updated:

Members of the Panhandle Mental Health Center are encouraging people around the area to learn more about mental illness.

This week is 'Mental Illness Awareness Week.'

Statistics show about 15 million people suffer from major depression.

And one in four adults experiences a mental health problem every year.

Members in the center are suggesting that people set up appointments to learn more about social anxiety and drug and alcohol addictions.

Even if people are unsure about what signs to look for in a person who may be suffering from a mental illness, Masters Level Clinician, Nicole Peralta, says still stop on by.

"If you see somebody struggling with issues of depression or anxiety or you're not sure, it's alright to give us a call and come on in and have a qualified clinician do an assessment and see if further therapy is needed."

Panhandle Mental Health centers are located in Scottsbluff, Alliance, Chadron, Oshkosh and Sidney.
