Annual 'Authentic Mexican Dinner' raises close to $10,000

Church members of Our Lady of Guadalupe celebrated their annual 'Authentic Mexican Dinner' with family, friends and the people of Scottsbluff.

The annual October fiesta is a popular fundraiser for the church and highlights Mexican culture with food and entertainment.

More than 500 people enjoyed hot served tacos, enchiladas, pork chili and rice and beans.

Children from the church's religion classes also danced and served today's guests.

Members say the dinner is a great way to share with the community the past, present, and future of their Mexican heritage.

"It is important to us to celebrate our Mexican heritage so that not only do our elders realize that we remember but our young ones will remember also along with us." Said parishioner Katherine Hernandez.

This year, members collected more than $10,000.
